Synopsis
Macross Delta is set in the year 2067, eight years after the events of Macross Frontier. The story focuses on Walküre, a team of talented idols and the Delta Squadron, a team of experienced Valkyrie pilots as they battle against the Var Syndrome, a mysterious phenomena that is consuming the galaxy, alongside the mysterious Aerial Knights Valkyrie fighter team of the Kingdom of Wind. This film recompiles scenes from the television anime with new scenes to tell a different story.

I mean, it's fine I guess?
It's a glorified clipshow with scenes re-arranged and altered to fit a more condensed story. With an out of place CG Walkure performance to entice fans.
On the plus side, streamlining the story makes it much more accessible and and gives more screen time to the main cast. The ending also is re-arranged to give it more time to breathe, rather than the abrupt ending the series had.
However, as a result lots of character development is lost, and instead of TOO much focus on the villains there is not not enough. Also, does anyone ever speak Chuck's name in this? I don't think they do.

As someone else already said, it's just a rearranged summary of a 25 episode show in barely 2 hours.
Of course this isn't TERRIBLE but if you want to watch this entry into the series, just stick to the anime! Although some scenes were done arguably better (Walkure retelling how they met and such) some pivotally emotional scenes just didn't land as hard due to pacing issues. -

This movie is half a retelling of the Macross Δ tv series and half new ending and animation.
Only watch if you've seen the TV series and you'll have a great time seeing a condensed version of the story that bypass the less satisfactory second half of the show.I had a great time with it. All of the songs and animations are great.
